Are you a lover of oh-so-cute little towns, family outings, food and wine? If you are then we’ve found your next must see destination… Solvang! The USA’s hidden gem, a beautiful little place in Santa Barbara County California that’s straight out of a fairytale…quaint, cute and sweet. Rapunzel would not seem out-of-place rolling her hair from a high up window.
This Danish village is located in the Santa Ynez Valley, so the surrounding wine country is breathtaking as with its many vineyards and canyons.
As Solvang is in wine country this is a haven for wine lovers, there’s little wine tasting stores everywhere. Plenty to eat as well, especially many traditional bakeries, the delicious smells make you want to try everything.
The main part of the village is made up of boutique stores, they are all so picturesque, you’ll find fairy lights amongst the Danish facades and the pretty murals.
The jewelry boutiques are to die for, there are many of these too so if you’re a jewelry lover this village will definitely tick your boxes. One of these boutiques, Designs in gold we were browsing and the lovely lady gave our little girl a beautiful bracelet, needless to say she skipped out the store and through the streets for the rest of the day. If you’re in the market for a timeless piece definitely drop in here and Solvang Antiques has jewelry that’ll make you weak at the knees.
There are activities for your whole family, this is a fantastic place for children especially.
Sunny Fields Park is a great playground for the young ones, it is built like a mini version of the town and your kids will have hours of fun here with the many swings, tunnels, slides, monkey bars and more, there is also a BBQ area and a baseball field in the complex.
Solvang is a great place for a day trip or to stay a night or two, we stayed the night in Hotel Corque, a beautiful hotel within walking distance of almost everything.
So if you’re ever in the area this is a must see little town that’s quite probably like nothing you’ve seen before. You won’t be disappointed.
❄️ Have you been to Solvang before? If you have we’d love to hear what you thought of it.
